Porter.<\/p>\r\n<p>Bishop Porter of Greater Community Temple Church of God in Christ said the giveaway is a kickoff to the denomination\u2019s 116th Holy Convocation that more than 30,000 people are expected to attend.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cWe even got volunteers from COGIC here that came in early from Connecticut, Alabama and various places,\u201d Porter said.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cWe prepare for this year-round because as you can see it\u2019s one of our ministries\u2019 largest events,\u201d Volunteer Coordinator Kristen Porter said.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cI just woke up and she told me to get dressed,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\r\n<aside class=\"promo-link\"><a class=\"promo-link__link\" href=\"https:\/\/wreg.com\/news\/local\/hvac-company-may-open-new-memphis-manufacturing-plant\/?ipid=promo-link-block2\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\"> HVAC company may open new Memphis manufacturing plant <\/a><\/aside>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p>This mother said the event came right on time as she prepares for new beginnings.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m finna be a grandma three times. Yes, November, December, and January,\u201d participant Zaneka Cuble said. \u201cSo, I\u2019m here to try to get stuff for my grandbabies and help my children out with the babies.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>Porter said the event is all about meeting the needs of the community.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cTo see the thousands that are already here, that were here as early as six o\u2019clock in the morning says to you that there is a great need in the city of Memphis,\u201d Porter said. \u201cThere\u2019s a food desert. There\u2019s all kinds of health issues and so we\u2019re trying to make accommodations.
